Early Birthday Present

Since Tuesday is a very inconvenient day for my birthday to land on this year, Scott took me out to dinner last night. Preface: Usually, Scott always manages to give away any surprises he has planned. But, kudos to him because I had no idea where we were going until we pulled into the parking lot... The Cheesecake Factory! Yes, we did drive 45 minutes to get to the only one in Utah, and yes, we did wait literally two hours for a table, but it was worth it. Oh so yummy. The last time we went to a Cheesecake Factory was in Seattle five years ago. We were there for a Brian Regan concert. Oh, memories... And, considering we never see each other during the week, we had so much to talk about! What a great evening.

There is no season such delight can bring...

Yay for the official start of SPRING! It could not have been a more perfect day weather wise. Sunny. Soft Breeze. A couple puffy clouds. 70s. Beautiful. We had a huge BBQ to celebrate.

This weekend Jen, Scott's sister, and Richard, a friend also going to BYU-I, are here to visit. On Friday we all went to BYU's Guitars Unplugged. Now let me explain: At Idaho, this show is the biggest thing on campus. The entire Hart Auditorium fills. Although it's a huge show, the acts are usually good but seldom GREAT. It was so weird to see how different it is here at Provo! The audience was about 1/4 the size of Idaho's. There was no cool laser show or movie clips introduction. There was no commercials promoting student events between acts. BUT, the musicians blew our minds. Most were beyond GREAT. Tons of talent. One of our favorites was a father/son combo. They both played guitar and sang. Oh holy night, they were amazing! Oh, and they gave out free churros and otter pops at the event. Nice!

Due to inquiries regarding Scott's eating habits, (pictured early) I feel the need to apologize for my deceitfulness, and clarify. Yes, I completely blew the ratio of unhealthy and healthy foods out of proportion. Scott and I both each tons of fruit and veggies everyday and we both share ALL those snacks. We also eat the expensive, but good for you cereals and I bought some more salmon to have for dinner. I do take care of my boy, and that's that.

My license expires this month, so a few weeks ago I went to get a new one. Since my original is in WA they made me take the Utah written test. Would have been helpful to know it was open book, so I didn't waste time reading through it. Although most of the questions were like the following: True of False - Marijuana impairs your ability to drive. Wow, that a tough one. A girl next to me got caught cheating. I'm not entirely sure how she thought she could get away with it with cops monitoring the place like vultures. Yeah, I overhead that was her 3rd attempt. Poor thing, if only she took the time to READ the manual? Anyway, today I finally got it in the mail, and oh, what a sad state of affairs. Utah licenses are so ugly! I miss my beautiful WA one with mountains and sparkly green writing. C'est la vie.

Lastly, HUGE and EXCITING news to come. I can't post about it until Tuesday, but check back then!!

PICTURES!!!

Yay! I love pictures... Welcome to my classroom: the 360 degree tour. I'll have you know the walls and shelves were completely bare when I was hired. Needless to say, it's taken a lot of sweat and stress to get it to look this fabulous. :)
We went grocery shopping the other day. Super exciting, I know. However, as I was unpacking the food I saw quite a difference in the food Scott choose for his lunches and the food I choose for mine. Had to capture it. Can you guess whose is whose?
So speaking of stress, Scott's been so overwhelmed lately with midterms, work, and getting his film program application in, that he is starting to age prematurely... and quite rapidly.

Long Overdue...

Here are a few pictures to start with, that Scott edited recently. (We took these picts of the Rexburg Temple before we moved):
Yes, I realize I have not posted for almost two months. What a sad state of affairs. This reminds me of my journal habits... I get really into it for a few months, then all is lost. However, I finally feel like I am getting into a normal routine. Let me elaborate: I wake up about 4:45am, leave for school at 6:15, teach my heart out, get back home about 6, cook dinner (or more correctly, go out for dinner), prepare lessons, watch an episode of House, go to bed and start all over. My life in a nutshell. Scott's is similar; he has classes and work all day as well. We just got House seasons 1 & 2 and have started watching that each night. Good show!

There hasn't been anything really exciting happen EXCEPT.... SCOTT IS ON IMBD! Yes that is right, Scott was invited to join imdb.com because of two short films he recently made. It takes over a month for them to approve everything and upload it, but finally all it there! (This means that yes, I am also on imdb, Woo HOO!) See his page here: Scott on IMDB

Teaching is going well, the students are much better now and I really enjoy being around them. We had an all day read-a-thon this past week in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. Snacks, stuffed animals, sleeping bags, and tons of reading! It was great! We also went to a planetarium recently - so interesting! (I took Scott there for Valentines Day because it was so cool.) My classroom is starting to feel like a second home, I will post pictures soon I promise! The parents decorated my door for teacher appreciation week, so it's really cute right now. The students all signed a camping chair and gave it to me and it is so darn cute as well. It made me so stoked to go camping! We've decided we are going to buy some nice bikes and ride around this spring. There are tons of trails and neat places to explore here.

Other news: We have netflix now! Yipeee!

Let's see... Oh! We might get a kitten. Yep. Mmm hmm.

Annnnnnnnd, we had an "Oly Peeps" reunion in Provo. Tons of old friends from high school. Made me REALLY miss Olympia and the Pacific Northwest in general. I just wish it would stinking rain here!

Also, Scott is filming a movie! careerbuilder.com is having a commercial contest. Tagline: In 45 seconds or less, when do you know it's time to quit your job? He has a sweet idea and has spent all day filming it. Grand prize: 5,000 bucks. SWEET! He is also working on a documentary for his job, and may very possibly be going to San Fransisco to get footage in a month.
