Making a Difference

Well, Friday was my last day of school, and a bittersweet experience for sure. I bought my kids t-shirts and sharpies so we signed those for a long time. All the kids wanted me to write my phone number on their shirts. I didn't think they would actually call, so I did. We listened to music, played games, laughed and had fun. For the last 20 minutes they gave me countless hugs. Some got teary eyed, others wanted school to go all summer long, and many asked if I could teach them in fourth grade next year. While this was going on, I turned around to find everyone signing my whiteboard. By the time school got out it was full of their expressions of thanks and love. And sure enough, just hours after they all went home, I had about five students call me. Each left an indecipherable, but cute message on my machine.

I love my job.
